Hershey Aerial Awarded Janet Rothenberg Senior Scholarship

On January 7, 2012 Katie Waite was presented with a $5000 scholarship at the annual Janet Rothenberg Memorial Gymnastic Meet for the college of her choice. Every year all seniors that participate in the meet have the option to apply for the scholarship.   The decision is based on the following criteria; Academic Excellence, Community Involvement and Athletic Achievement.

Katie is a member of the National Honor Society with a GPA of 98%. She is a committee member for Mini Thon, helps with local food drives, been involved with Relay for Life andteaches Sunday school.  She has coached gymnastics for several years and has enjoyed the new challenge of coaching boys this year. She is a member of her Varsity Track team holding a school record on the 4x4. 

Katie has been a gymnast with the Hershey Aerials for 15 years.  Her success has carried her to Level 9 and has awarded her several state titles as well as a national title at the State Games of America.  She is currently an Advanced Prep and still  winning titles.  When asked her feelings on being the winner of the scholarship she replied,” I am so humbled by this generous gift. I will work hard to live up to the memory of Janet.  I am so very grateful.” 

Katie is planning on attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study Fashion Merchandising/Marketing.
